Welcome to the Society of St James. As a Church, the SSJ is committed to the spread of Gospel through Word and Sacrament. We are a member of Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
The SSJ is a Catholic independent fraternal priestly society formed to continue the mission of Jesus when He proclaimed:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
~ Luke 4:18–19 ~As it is in itself a true particular and fully Catholic Church, the Society of St James was not formed within, nor is it a member of, an external church structure.* The Society of Saint James will collaborate, however, with those church bodies who are committed to the same mission.
* “The Churches which, while not existing in perfect communion with the Catholic Church, remain united to her by means of the closest bonds, that is, by apostolic succession and a valid Eucharist, are true particular Churches. Therefore, the Church of Christ is present and operative also in these Churches.”
